I Speak Contractor: A Discussion with The Mind Behind Eve’s Creations

Designing a home is a matter of balancing beauty and precision. Many clients have a broad vision, but an unclear way of attaining it. Enlisting the expertise of an experienced designer, construction manager, or decorator is an extremely personal matter.

With almost 18 years both spent in design and construction, I walk the fine line of that balance. There is a “gap” between the two disciplines. I understand and bridge this gap for my clients. Essentially, I speak “contractor”, and have done so for quite some time.

When it comes to successful architectural design, I have found two things to be steadfast:

  1. A great design that cannot get executed, is a failure.
  2. A well-built home, without the proper style and functionality, is also a failure.
  3. Providing clarity when making the decision to begin an expansive project in home development is what I offer. Once clarity is attained, the project becomes a reality.
An Early Beginning

My experience with this industry stems quite far back. My father built high-end homes during my childhood years, and my step-mother was an interior designer. If I wasn’t spending time at my father’s job sites, I was hanging Levelors for my step-mother for a dollar a blind.

As a teen, I staged model homes for a period of time. By the time I entered college, I was “editing” homes and apartments for my friends. True passion for anything in life cannot be fabricated, and it became apparent that I was heading in the right direction.

Matters of Design

For the majority of my career, I have approached projects with my “design hat” on. This is where I would come up with an idea, and begin visualizing it.

I co-founded Denver luxury home builder Squibb Estates, which provided dozens of projects for high-end clientele, ranging from “green” 1950s remodels to multi-million-dollar European-style estates.

As the creative force behind Eve’s Creations, I enjoy the same thrill when solving the design needs of my clients. I am able to determine their needs, and work toward making them a reality with various architects, builders and more.

Beyond Solid Walls

A house can have the most accurate measurements and precise construction, but that does not automatically make it a home. As mentioned before, without the effective design element, any house, no matter how well built, is incomplete.

Here is where my other “hat” comes into play; my “construction” hat. Once the design is created, figuring out how to build it is the other key element that contributes to a successful project. With beautiful design and expert construction, the project transforms from being just an idea to a real place to call home.

Due to my experience in both sides of home design, I have learned how to work within a project as an asset, not a hinderance. A client needs to be able to both identify with and trust their contractor. With a positive relationship and an immense respect for trades that help bring a wonderful creation into fruition, I dedicate myself fully to any project I take on.
